Indexing: how long Google takes to show your ad
You have just published your ad and you cannot see it on Google yet. That is normal: before showing a page, search engines have to discover it and store it. That is called indexing.
What is indexing?
Sitemap, IndexNow and how long a page takes to appear.
The essentials, step by step
- Indexing means Google discovers your page and stores it in its list, so it can show it in the results.
- The sitemap is the list of public pages that Google and Bing read. Your profile and your exclusive website are added automatically once they are published.
- With IndexNow we notify Bing and other compatible search engines as soon as you publish or change something. Google does not use IndexNow: it reads the sitemap at its own pace.
- A new page can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to appear. This is normal, and each search engine decides.
- What helps most: original, complete texts, photos with captions and links from other websites, such as your own.
Frequently asked questions
Can you make it appear sooner?
